Dan Radcliff continues to be the greatest. With his new HBO documentary, he’s doing a yeoman’s job negating all of She Who Will Not Be Named’s hateful nonsense by presenting the story of David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived.

Holmes was a teen gymnast when he began working as Radcliff’s stunt double in the Potter movies. He broke his neck while filming part one of Deathly Hallows and has been paralyzed ever since. David and Daniel seem equally inspired and enamored with each other, and this looks like it will be a lovely, three hanky, tribute to their friendship and Holmes’ resilience.

David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived will be available on HBO and for streaming on MAX beginning November 15th.

Speaking of stunts, no one does more to keep Hollywood’s stunt community employed than Jason Statham. In his next movie, The Beekeeper, Statham goes HAM (because he always does) on the members of a phishing scam boiler room who are responsible for the death of the maternal figure in his life.

He’s not actually a mellitologist though. As Jeremy Irons explains in this trailer, The Beekeepers are an elite squad of highly trained….well, you’ll catch on pretty fast. I don’t think I can say the same for the bad guys in this one. RIP Douchebros.

The Beekeeper is directed by David Ayer (Suicide Squad). It also stars Emmy Raver-Lampman (The Umbrella Academy), Josh Hutcherson (Five Nights At Freddy’s), Bobby Naderi, Minnie Driver, and Phylicia Rashad. It opens in theaters on January 12th.

I was going to save this trailer for FX’s upcoming Shōgun 10-episode series until closer to its airdate. But, I’m old enough to remember the original 1980 NBC miniseries and have strong memories of the massive James Clavell novel about 17th-century feudal Japan on my parents’ bookshelf. So, I’m pretty damn excited about this one and just couldn’t wait to include this epic trailer.

The series credits a number of writers and directors. It stars Hiroyuki Sanada (47 Ronin), Cosmo Jarvis (The Shadow Of Violence), Tadanobu Asano (Thor Ragnarok), Anna Sawai (Pachinko), and Yûki Kedôin.

Shōgun will begin streaming on FX and Hulu in February 2024. PleasebegoodPleasebegoodPleasebegood.

For this week’s lagniappe, Netflix has harnessed its powers of mediocrity for good(ish) and has created a movie that is truly the epitome of all that Netflix films should be. Kinda dumb, kinda fun, with a lot of people behaving badly and blowing things…up.

Dear Netflix, just make these movies. It’s fine. We love them, even if we don’t talk about it in public.
