Guess who’s back, back, back? Back again? It’s Renée Zellweger as Bridget Jones! Variety reports that Renée has signed on for Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, an adaptation of Helen Fielding’s 2013 novel. I read that book, and it was… okay. It follows Bridget in her early fifties as she raises her two kids on her own. Mark Darcy is no longer in the picture. If you don’t know why and wanna be spoiled, click here.

Mad About The Boy is the third Bridget Jones book, but this will be the fourth film. There was the original Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001), the absolutely bonkers-terrible Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004), followed by Bridget Jones’s Baby (not a book, 2016).

Hugh Grant will return as that no-good cad Daniel Cleaver, and Emma Thompson will be back as Bridget’s OBGYN. Chiwetel Ejiofor and Leo Woodall, who just starred in Netflix’s One Day, will also star. Me-assumes they will be playing Bridget’s two love interests from the book. And it looks like they’re sticking to the “Mark Darcy is gone” thing, cuz there’s no mention of sexy, sexy Colin Firth. Sigh.

Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy will debut in theatres and stream on Peacock on Valentine’s Day 2025. It’ll be directed by Michael Morris (To Leslie, Better Call Saul).
