Last night at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Parasite made history by becoming the first foreign-language film to win the top prize for Best Movie Cast/Ensemble. Bong Joon-ho’s stellar film has been a regular on the awards season red carpets this year but never for acting, so this is a heartily well-deserved prize for Song Kang-ho, Cho Yeo-jeong, Park So-dam, Choi Woo-shik, and company. Seriously, not one of them got an Oscar nomination this year? Talk about a snub.
Nobody was happier for the cast of Parasite than Director Bong himself, who brought some serious proud dad energy to the night, which Twitter was, obviously, delighted by!

This SAG win is great news for Parasite as the Oscars get closer. There’s no real definitive front-runner for Best Picture this year, although 1917 currently has the edge, so it’s a good sign for Director Bong and company to have this victory in their corner. It shows that there are plenty of industry folks in their corner. Come on, Hollywood, make the right decision!
