I actually set a reminder and logged into Nintendo Direct’s live Youtube event for 15 minutes of a scrolling chat full of rabid Mario fans just so my kid and I could be among the first to watch the trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie. It did not disappoint. If you/your kid liked the Sonic The Hedgehog movies, prepare yourselves for a sensory overload.
OK sure, Chris Pratt is no one’s favorite Chris, or who I would have cast as Mario, BUT this still looks hellagood.
Did you catch my boy, Luigi, in there after the credits? Awww yeah. He’s the fan fave in this house. Sorry, Mario.
The voice cast for the movie, which is almost finished with animation, includes Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, and Jack Black as Bowser (chef’s kiss.) Toad is voiced by Keegan-Michael Key and Seth Rogan is Donkey Kong. Legendary voice actor Kevin Michael Richardson is the voice of Kamek, Fred Armisen is Cranky Kong and Sebastian Maniscalco is Foreman Spike.
Looks like we’re not the only ones who are tired of Worst Chris:
I cannot emphasize enough how Chris Pratt speaking garnered absolutely 0 reaction from the NYCC panel audience. The split second shot of Luigi got a massive cheer. Bowser showing up got a cheer. Dead silence for Mario speaking.
