A generation of children is growing up in quarantine. Their routines of school days, play dates, and meticulously scheduled activities have been lost to the grips of a world-shaking pandemic. They miss their friends. They miss their family members who don’t live within their shelter-in-place bubble. They’re hurting just like their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and teachers. And it’s hard to know what to say to help that. Maybe Frozen’s Olaf can break the ice?

As part of Olaf At Home, Disney has released a new song that has the plucky snowman writing a letter to those he misses. Music and Lyrics by Oscar-winning Let It Go creators Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, “I Am With You” has a home-recorded Josh Gad performance that will probably make you and the kiddos cry. But maybe a good cry? Maybe it’ll help.

“Who cares about our wheres-abouts, I’m here and you are there. But I am with you, and I care.”

Yeah, on one hand, this Disney montage music-video is a clear commercial for a slew of movies conveniently found on Disney+. On the other, it’s a welcome reminder that those we love may not be near, but we are with them, nonetheless.

At Home With Olaf is a series of animated shorts created remotely from the homes of animators, writers, directors, and actors. You can find more on Youtube.
