Former child star Bella Thorne is making the leap to director with an adult film. The short called Her and Him is part of Pornhub’s Visionaries Director’s Series, which EW reports will “debut films by unexpected directors in order to diversify porn production.” Thorne follows in the footsteps of rappers Brooke Candy and Young M.A, who made this series’ previous entries.

Her and Him stars Small Hands and Abella Danger as a couple who get heated when the “him” discovers the “her” has searched the internet for “how to kill your boyfriend and get away with it.”

Take a peek at what Thorne has in store with Her and Him with the film’s pretty SFW trailer:

Some might snark at this news with “another child star getting into porn.” But f*ck that sex-shaming and cynical bullshit. For one thing, Thorne might be best known for her sing-song Disney past, but she’s been building a career that not only includes more mature genre fare like The Babysitter, I Still See You and Assasination Nation but also penning the Autumn Falls series of novels and the poetry-memoir The Life of a Wannabe Mogul: Mental Disarray. Basically, she refuses to be defined by one thing, and certainly not as some “fallen from grace child star.”

Plus, this Pornhub collaboration makes sense from Thorne, who has been an outspoken sex-positive advocate. She’s proudly out as pansexual. She recently refused to be bullied by a nude-pic-stealing blackmailer, and so decided to take away their power by posting the topless shots herself. Then, when Whoopi Goldberg slut-shamed and victim-blamed her—and by extension, a slew of young women who have faced similar struggles—Thorne battled back with thought, emotion, and sincerity. Considering all this, Her and Him, which deals with sex, horror, and an exploration of shifting power dynamics, seems less shocking and more an almost obvious next step for this fearless, 21-year-old multi-hyphenate.

As to her latest endeavor, Thorne says, “My vision originally—actually—was to make a Christmas horror movie.” But that evolved into a Romeo and Juliet tale that is “very beautiful, ethereal, neon.” And of course, it has “real-life fucking.”

To that point, Thorne realizes her new project might make some fans “uncomfortable,” but asks, “Don’t make other people feel uncomfortable for being okay with (porn). Because at the end of the day it is sex, and it’s something that the human body wants, it needs, and constantly craves for it. It’s just a very understandable thing. If you’re scared of it, that’s fine. To each their own. But don’t tear somebody else down because they’re confident with their sexuality and they’re okay to admit that.”

Her and Him will premiere at the Oldenburg Film Festival in Germany next month. Afterward, it will become available on Pornhub Premium.
