We Love Where Kate Winslet Keeps Her Oscar
In 2009, Kate Winslet faced a quandary that many actresses dream of having: where do I put my Oscar?
After being nominated six times, the English star finally took home the little gold man for her riveting performance in The Reader. And after having imagined what that moment might be like six times, she decided to give all of her houseguests the chance to revel in that moment. Her placement of this award is inspired. She put in the bathroom, which allows the perfect privacy for one to clutch it and deliver an impassioned speech to the mirror before making your way back out into whatever charming shindig Winslet has going on.
She explained to The Wall Street Journal:
“The whole point is for everybody to pick it up and go, ‘I’d like to thank my son and my dad’—and you can always tell when someone has, because they’re in there a little bit longer after they flushed. They’ll come out looking slightly pink-cheeked. It’s hysterical.”
Kate, invite us over. The Overlords are great houseguests. We bring wine and whiskey, and Dustin makes a mean pizza dip.
Kristy Puchko makes drunken ice cream for parties. So you know, she’s the kind of person you definitely want to have over and allow access to your Oscar.
