Another day another dude thinking it’s cool to call Amy Schumer “skanky.”
I guess junkets work differently in Australia. For one, I don’t know why this interview is staged in bar where the star is lit like she’s a background extra. For another, why handheld mics? Why is there a mouse arrow icon resting in the middle of the interviewer’s shot? And lastly, what the fuck is this dude talking about?
Jane Hall and Matt Tilley co-host a morning show on Melbourne’s radio station KISS 101.1, so they tag-teamed on one of the most awkward interviews to ever. After Hall commends Amy on her “pins” (legs), Tilley follows up with, “Do they have the word ‘skanky’ in America?”
She politely answers, “We do have that word,” and Hall adds, “Maybe we shouldn’t have used it?” But Tilley’s not done. He totally gets women.
Tilley: “But come on, that’s the character in the movie. I’m not trying to offend you.”
Schumer: “Whatever you’re trying to do, you are (offending me). That’s a rude question.”
Then this disastrous duo switches gears, asking Schumer to weigh in on an issue at their office where one unknown female employee has apparently been trimming her pubes in the communal restroom and just leaving the evidence lie. Sure. Okay.
Funny thing, the radio station posted this video with the title, “Amy Schumer unhappy in this interview,” but I’d say that applies to Hall too, who begins to squirm anytime her co-host opens his mouth. But especially when he decides it’s finding a man that was the solution to the movie heroine’s problem.
“In terms of us talking about the incident at our work, it reminded us of what happens in your movie, where being with a guy eclipses everything else…am I making sense to you?”
The interview ends with Hall suggesting next time she’ll leave Tilley behind, and Schumer responds:
