After around 15 years of delays, cancelled attempts, and creative changes, we're finally getting the reboot-slash-sequel of The Naked Gun. Liam Neeson has stepped into the big shoes of Leslie Nielsen, and his femme fatale co-star is Pamela Anderson, still riding the high of her recent career renaissance. The pair have been cozy on the red carpets and talking effusively about their experiences working together. They're not just colleagues. They're BFFs for life now. And, according to PEOPLE, they're now dating!
A source tells the publication that it's 'a budding romance in the early stages. It's sincere, and it's clear they're smitten with each other.' The pair walked the red carpet at the New York premiere of the movie, each accompanied by their sons: Brandon and Dylan Lee, and Micheál and Daniel Neeson-Richardson.
Honestly, the chemistry is real, and the pair have been effusive with praise for one another for a while now. Anderson told Entertainment Weekly, 'I think I have a friend forever in Liam, and we definitely have a connection that is very sincere, very loving, and he's a good guy [...] It is funny: We all come to this place in different ways, but to be able to share this experience with him is very meaningful and such an honor.' Neeson was similarly enthusiastic in a PEOPLE interview from last year, noting that he was 'madly in love with her. 'I can't compliment her enough, I'll be honest with you. No huge ego. She just comes in to do the work. She's funny and so easy to work with. She's going to be terrific in the film.'
It's also just great promo for the movie. The chemistry is real, kids! I'm not tinhatting this or claiming it's PR. Shock horror, sometimes hot people who meet at work like one another. We're in a real famine of great on-screen chemistry right now, and I know I'm certainly more interested in seeing The Naked Gun after all of this. Hot and funny is a fabulous combination. Anderson always had a sparky talent for light comedy that was never fully taken advantage of before the Pam-aissance. Now, she's mostly doing fascinating indie projects and is on stage in a Tennessee Williams play at the Williamsburg Theatre Festival. Maybe, if The Naked Gun is a hit, we could see her in more comedic work. Anderson in Hacks or Mid-Century Modern, please?
