Taylor Swift announced the release of 1989 (Taylor's Version) in Los Angeles this Wednesday at the final show in the US leg of her Eras Tour.

"There's something that I've been planning for a really, really, really, ridiculously embarrassingly long time. And I think instead of just like telling you about it, I think I'll just sort of show you something I've been excited to show you," Swift said to the crowd at SoFi Stadium, in front of a backdrop of the new album cover.

She then posted the announcement to Instagram this morning.

"Surprise!! 1989 (Taylor's Version) is on its way to you," she wrote in the caption. "The 1989 album changed my life in countless ways, and it fills me with such excitement to announce that my version of it will be out October 27th. To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I've ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane. I can't believe they were ever left behind. But not for long!"

This is Swift's fourth re-recorded album, following Fearless and Red in 2021 and Speak Now in July of this year.

The album is available for preorder now in vinyl and cassette as well as 4 special edition Deluxe CDs, each of which includes "5 unique double-sided Collectible Photo Cards with 15 never-before-seen photos and lyrics from The Vault!"

The new album artwork harkens back to the original 1989 design with its bright, poppy colors and seagulls, but this time the seagulls are soaring through a bluebird sky behind a windswept, red-lipped, smiling Swift. This is an album that broke from Swift's typical style of fraught country-pop love songs with tracks like "Shake It Off" and "Style," and exuded a sense of joy and celebration that her previous albums did not.

Suffice to say, everyone is very excited. Including Taylor.

Cheers!
