Tallulah Willis Calls Out Creeps Making Fun of Her Appearance

Tallulah Willis has been in the spotlight since before she was born. Being the daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis means she's had cameras on her for pretty much her entire life. Being the child of celebrities, especially ones who were as massively famous as Moore and Willis in their primes, is a thankless job. You're followed by cameras, everyone judges you as a spoiled brat or nepo baby in waiting, and you have to deal with the parasocial nightmare of people getting too attached to your parents. Some people feel very entitled towards these kids. Check out the ways they talk about Angelina Jolie's kids or the transphobia they direct towards Kai Schreiber. It's all the negatives of fame with few of the benefits. And for Tallulah Willis and her sisters, that has meant a lifetime of being mocked for their appearances.

Willis shared a very cute photo of herself as a newborn on Instagram, joking, "I hate gay Halloween - WDYM you're just a preemie jaundice Bruce Willis with an historically accurate hairline ??? WDYM (lol)" And it is true. The resemblance is uncanny. That baby looks ready to climb Nakatomi Plaza.

And then the comments got gross.

Actually, the comments have always been gross. The Willis sisters have been mocked for years for their appearance. Because they're a 50/50 split of each parent but have Bruce's strong chin, the internet thinks this makes them both too hideous to look at and fair game for cruelty. This is, alas, nothing new for any woman on the internet, but it is notable how much the Willis girls have been on the receiving end of this. I remember when Rumer Willis started acting and how people openly derided her as not just unattractive but literally disfigured. It was brutal.

Tallulah shared a few of the nasty comments she received on a couple of Instagram Stories, with the caption, "wait, so why did u almost starve yourself to death, I don't get it." This refers to her decades-long experiences with an eating disorder, body dysmorphia, and a diagnosis of BPD. As she told Vogue, having people be so flagrantly cruel towards her as a child led to a lifetime of struggles. While in a treatment centre, a nurse leaked her information to the tabloids.

Willis then posted a Reel, showing further comments describing her as "not easy looking on the eyes," "scary", and questioning if she suffers from "some sort of medical issues."

People seem shocked -genuinely- when I share my experience being called "medically disfigured" "or something to fear"

I don't often read these things, but when I do I remember why I almost starved to death after a lifetime of disordered eating.
I take pride in that fact that I choose kindness everyday, but I just hope to share with you all the realities that someone who has been unstoppably vulnerable in sharing their ups and downs still gets treated like this on certain corners of the internet. and for the record I am far from what nightmares are made of.

Seriously, what is wrong with people?

Truly, there's something about fame that makes everyone else entitled as hell to their time and space. "This person is a celebrity and therefore I have the right to talk about them like this" has always been faulty reasoning behind what is ultimately an act of garden variety meanness. Not that they need the excuse of fame to act like this. Mocking someone's appearance is the easiest way to knock them down. It's usually the first call of attack in Trolling 101, because it works. Willis has spent the past couple of years opening up online about these kinds of attacks as well as her ED and mental health recovery. Surely she, and all of us, deserve better than this crap? Tallulah, if you want to go full G.I. Jane on these losers, we can provide alibis.
