Sabrina Carpenter Always Knew She Would Be Famous

With her new album Short n’ Sweet coming out tomorrow, Sabrina Carpenter is reflecting on her sudden superstardom, which she says she always knew she was “destined for.”

“I don’t know how to describe it, when you’re a child and you just have a feeling of, I know I’m going to do this someday. I know I’m going to do this for the rest of my life. I know this is the path I need to follow, whatever that means for me, and whatever success that means for me is what I’m destined for,” she told Paper Magazine.

“I will say I’m a little bit of a freak manifester sometimes, which is a blessing and a curse depending on how you look at it,” she added. “I always knew deep down that this was something I would do with my life, and I didn’t ever really doubt that, even when sh** was hitting the ceiling fan.”

Sounds like she took a page out of Lady Gaga’s fame playbook. “You have the ability to self-proclaim your own fame,” Gaga once said in a YouTube video discussing her debut album, aptly titled, The Fame. “You have the ability to experience and feel a certain amount of self-worth that comes from a very vain place by simply your choices…The way that you walk down the street, the way that you carry yourself at parties. I mean, you can literally choose to have fame, and that’s what this album is about.”

But Carpenter would be wise to remember that even Gaga had to face the music, at one point saying, “My biggest enemy is Lady Gaga.”
