Peppa Pig and Clairo is the Funniest Pop Girlie Beef of 2026

Peppa Pig is a stone cold diva. Don’t let the adorable red dress or the fact that she’s a literal child fool you. Beneath that pink pallor is the ambitious fury of an old-school celebrity power player. After all, she’s the face of a multi-million pound franchise, and a critically acclaimed musical icon. Pitchfork famously gave her sophomore album, Peppa’s Adventures, which they compared to Fiona Apple and Taylor Swift, a 6.5 rating, putting it higher than works by Kanye West and Lana Del Rey. Peppa even roasted Ye over it, like a true chaos porcine. It’s no wonder she has a gay stan base. Now, she’s returned to Pitchfork to share her thoughts on life, growing up, and her nemeses. She’s bringing the low steaks drama.

While playing the “Over/Under” game, wherein musicians decide if something is overrated or underrated, Peppa was asked about Clairo, the American indie singer-songwriter behind songs like “Pretty Girl.” Who could be offended by Clairo? Well, there must be some serious beef, or pork, between the pair, because Peppa responded with a withering “I don’t know her.” Scandal! Mariah would be proud. Clairo had appeared on Pitchfork and said she thought Peppa was underrated, in large part because, apparently, the toddler is over 7 feet tall. I choose to believe this is true because it makes the shade even funnier.

But Clairo has big supporters in her corner. Charli XCX has offered to “F**k her up”, which I wouldn’t recommend if she really is taller than most pro-basketball players.

PinkPantheress was praised by Peppa in the interview — they’re bound together by pink and nationality, after all — but Ms. Pantheress is a girl’s girl and she told Peppa, “Ain’t s**t sweet until you put respect on clairo.”

PinkPantheress says that Peppa Pig needs to apologise for her Clairo shade:

“ain’t sh** sweet until you put respect on clairo 💯”

Clairo may have taken things too far, however, sharing a photograph of a pan of fried eggs and bacon, and @-ing Peppa on Instagram. Seems kind of problematic, babe.

Look, it’s always sad to see two strong confident women fighting like this. Peppa has a history of being shady but maybe Clairo could have responded in a less speciesist way. But I do know a lot of parents of toddlers who have been waiting for someone to call Peppa out for years. Unchecked power is scary. Whatever’s going on here, let’s hope they can work it out on the remix.
