Kristen Stewart is out there promoting her new queer ghost-hunting reality show, Living for the Dead. She co-created it with her best friend/hairstylist, CJ Romero. The pair appear on an upcoming episode of the podcast Ghosted! By Roz Hernandez, and, in a “sneak peek” published by People, Kristen reminisces about the time a ghost lady in colonial garb haunted her. Hmmm, how very “there is a colonial woman on the wing!” of her.
The encounter happened when Kristen was 15-years-old. She says she was filming a “movie about ghosts” (probably 2007’s The Messengers) and staying at a “very old” hotel in Regina, Saskatchewan with her mom. The paranormal activity began when Kristen was in bed, and noticed her water bottle had been knocked over. She blamed it on the cat at the hotel, Max. But then she realized Max couldn’t have been the culprit, as he was sleeping soundly at her feet. #JusticeForMax
Kristen continues: “And then all of a sudden I felt like my legs had been kind of pushed down. Cuz they were up — like, my knees were up.” Later, Kristen’s family suggested she may have been asleep during the encounter, but she insists she was awake:
“They were like, ‘Maybe you were dreaming.’ I was like dude, I wasn’t even laying fully down,” she continued. “Then all of a sudden, I was straightened out.”“So it made me open my eyes, and when I opened my eyes, it was a lady in colonial garb,” Stewart said, joking that the ghost was akin to the scene in Bridesmaids with the vision of the colonial woman on the wing of the airplane.
“There was a lady in old-school clothes, with darkened features and rollers in here [sic] hair, and sort of looming over my bed, as high as the top of the drapery,” she added. “I couldn’t make a sound for a very long time.”
Kristen says, “You could not f**king convince me that I did not see a ghost.”
Years later, Kristen experienced another freaky incident after the death of her and CJ’s friend, Ryan. Kristen was at home telling a story about Ryan, when CJ entered the house (he’d just come back from driving another pal to Kristen’s gate [rich people with long driveway problems]). Kristen explains:
“He’s walking down the stairs and suddenly just stops and kind of — I mean, not to take a profound and delicate scenario and make it funny, but he looked all of a sudden so truly possessed, and I did think maybe he was having a weird episode.”
Kristen called CJ’s name, but “he just didn’t hear a word I said.” Then, he walked into a wall, snapped out of his trance, and started “uncontrollably crying.” Kristen added that the lights in her house were also flickering a lot in the wake of Ryan’s death. Spooky!
Now, I’ve never seen a ghost, but I do believe in them. Any time I hear freaky sounds at night, I, like Kristen, blame it on the cat. Mystery creak? The cat. Glass smashing? The cat. A grisly voice in my ear whispering, “Avenge my murrrderrr.” The. Cat.
