My sexiest man alive, Jeremy Allen White, recently gave an interview to British GQ in which he spoke about his burgeoning success. White has previously complained about the power of Marvel in Hollywood, and that starring in a superhero movie has become the “pinnacle of an actor’s career.”

However, he knew the opportunity would present itself eventually, and when he did get the chance to meet with superhero movie executives, he says he blew it.

“I had a meeting for a kind of Marvel-y movie, and I had an attitude. I think I played it all wrong,” he explained. He apparently said to the studio people, “Tell me about why should I do your movie.”

“They were like, ‘Fuck you.’ And I was like, ‘Right on.’”

But he doesn’t regret it. “I played it the way I wanted to play it,” he said.

Meanwhile, he reflected that the past year has “been insane,” full of “A lot of high highs, a lot of terribly low lows.” White has been hounded by paparazzi lately, and it came to a head when they showed up at his daughter’s soccer game. He confronted them, asking them to draw the line at taking pictures of children. When it didn’t work, he started wearing the same outfit to every game to deter them.

He called paparazzi “such a weird aspect of this thing” that he never thought he “would ever deal with whatsoever. It’s not fun, and it’s not nice, and it’s really weird.”

He’s been using the SAG-AFTRA strike as an excuse to rest and be with his children.

“With everything going on in my personal life … I made this choice to not work for the rest of the year and just be with my daughters and just slow it all down.”

He made that choice after filming his new movie, The Iron Claw, in which he stars opposite Zac Efron, in theaters on December 22nd.
