Halloween weekend means many things. Horror movies, unusually glowing cocktails, picking at the sweets you left at the door for trick-or-treating kids, and, of course, going all-out with your costumes. The options are limitless, and that’s before you add all the slutty versions to the pile! I dressed as Louise Belcher, which was delightfully comfy and low effort. But if you’re a celebrity, with endless resources at your fingertips, then this is the season to go all-out. And plenty of them did.
For our money, the queen of the season was Janelle Monae, who committed hard to her outfit as the Diva Plavalaguna from The Fifth Element. Perfect. 11/10. No notes.
How the hell do you top that? You don’t, but some celebs sure gave it a go.
Kim Kardashian dressed as Mystique, which I’m kind of surprised she hasn’t done before. Her kids went as an array of music stars, including Aaliyah, Sade, Eazy E, and Snoop Dogg. It’s actually kind of amazing.
Lizzo went for some classic animation with Marge Simpson (and of course she did the meme.)
It will surprise literally nobody that Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly did Pam and Tommy.
Ariana Grande and her friend Elizabeth Gilles were hysterically spot-on as several characters from Best in Show, and Jennifer Coolidge even gave Grande her seal of approval.
Lili Reinhart, Madelaine Petsch, and Camila Mendes from Riverdale went ’90s with the Sanderson sisters from Hocus Pocus.
Kristen Stewart and fiance Dylan Meyer also went ’90s for some Wayne’s World love.
Our brand new Ariel, Halle Bailey, turned Na’vi.
While her sister Chloe went for X-Men.
Jason Blum of Blumhouse fame made sure his costume came with an excellent branding opportunity for a future release.
And for those of you who want a closer look. Those bags are a little scary. I’m kind of like a #M3GAN 2.0. (40 years later) pic.twitter.com/13D1IfQhln

Kerry Washington went for comfort as well as nostalgia and I respect that.
We are, of course, still waiting on Heidi Klum’s costume, which will be 100% committed, probably kind of gross, and amazing on a purely technical level.

Happy Halloween to those celebrating tonight. I will probably be slouching on my couch with junk food and a horror movie. And no costume.
