Insecure star Yvonne Orji went on Chelsea Handler’s podcast, Dear Chelsea, and talked about her status as an almost 40-year-old virgin (her birthday is December 2).

Yvonne first opened up about her virginity in 2017, when she was 33. It’s been six long years since this admission, and apparently, Chelsea Handler was desperate for an update. She straight-up asked Yvonne if she was still a virgin. After Yvonne answered, “I am,” Chelsea proclaimed her “the most original guest we’ve had on!” She added, “Oh my god, that dam is going to break one day, baby!” Yvonne responded by joking that she was worried for the man she finally has sex with:

“Baby, lemme tell you right now! People were like, ‘Ohhh, Yvonne…’ And I was like, ‘Pray for him. Whoever he is! Because there’s a lot of pent-up energy up in here with me!”

Chelsea said that when Yvonne hits her “sexual peak” she’ll need “a couple of men, probably.” Yvonne laughed, and added, “Yvonne went from being a virgin to polyamory.” Here’s the vid:

Now, in my non-expert opinion, older virgins can be split into two main categories: “take my V-card, please!” virgins (The 40-Year-Old Virgin, this one friend of mine who wants to have sex, but lacks confidence when it comes to dating) or virgins by choice (religious types like Tim Tebow, people who struggle with trauma, psychological or physical issues, etc). Actually, now that I’m thinking about it, some virgins probably bounce between categories. Or identify as somewhere in the middle. So perhaps this should be a Kinsey-style scale instead? Hmmm, where are Masters and Johnson when you need them? Answer: DEAD.

Anywho, let’s get back to Yvonne, who is a virgin by choice. She is a devout Protestant and plans to abstain from sex until marriage. In 2017, Yvonne told People that she decided to be open about her celibacy cuz she was “grounded” in who she was:

“Before any of [the fame] happened, I sat down with myself and with God and thought, when I make it, how do you want me to represent you while I’m here?” The HBO star says she answered her own question: “It was like, OK, I know why I’m here. It’s to make you proud.”

“People ask about it because they’re curious, or they may not understand,” she says. “How will they ever get [sic] understand if I don’t talk about it? I can inform your curiosity, as opposed to everyone being in the dark and just sort of creating their own narrative about it.”

That same year, Yvonne gave a TEDx Talk called “The wait is sexy”:

Good luck to you, Yvonne! And shout-out to Instagram user @quite_reflections, who commented the following under that Dear Chelsea clip:

I believe her [Yvonne], she has the glow of a woman who’s never been disappointed by a man in bed.
