Well, I definitely didn't predict that one!

When Heidi Klum started dropping hints for her 2026 Halloween costume, I and many others were convinced she was going to be dressed as Monstro Elisasu from The Substance. We should have known that she'd never go for something so predictable. This is the same woman whose previous Heidiween outfits have included hyper-detailed versions of Medusa, Jessica Rabbit, and a worm. This year? She went as her hand. Yes, really. Her own left hand.

Truly, this is bananas.

The detail of this thing? The viscera, the veins, the uncanny nature of seeing something so familiar looking this unfamiliar... And those are recreations of her actual rings too. I have to, well, hand it to her. Heidi, you did a great job. A round of applause, everyone.

One of the reasons I love Heidiween so much, aside from her giddiness over being super disgusting, is the effort behind it. Klum is willing to pay through the nose for this work, and for the labour behind it. This hand was created by a huge team of legendary make-up and practical effects people. Mike Marino, a regular collaborator of Heidi's is an Oscar-nominated make-up artist who worked on The Batman and A Different Man. As she noted on Instagram, "I love that in a world where so much isn't made by hand anymore - every vein, wrinkle, and little detail of this costume was. A true labor of love." This is what I want weirdo rich people doing. None of this crypto crap. Pay dozens of people to dress you up as your own severed hand.

Well done, Heidi. An excellent hand job. No, wait...
