The Harry Potter movies may have ended (and they did because I don’t count the Fantastic Beasts franchise), but that doesn’t mean that people are done discussing them. Filming for all eight movies in the magical series took place at Leavesden Studios in London, England, so the cast was largely kept out of the public eye while filming. A bunch of young people who grew up together onset meant a bunch of hormones were raging, right?

Yup, that’s pretty much what Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley), confirmed recently. There were sparks flying, but it wasn’t between him and his onscreen love interest, Emma Watson (Hermione Granger). Rather, it was between Watson and the Golden Trio’s onscreen enemy, Draco Malfoy himself, Tom Felton.

During his press tour for the Apple TV+ series, Servant, Grint spilled the beans and told ET that there “were some sparks” between Watson and Felton during their years making the Harry Potter movies. “There was always something. There was a little bit of a spark.” Meanwhile, he says that he was “spark-free,” saving himself from further speculation, probably.

The actor, for his part, seems to have walked right into that without realizing what he was admitting to. He says that he didn’t want to fan the flames of the rumor mill, but, honestly, it’s too late for that. The flames have been lit. I, for one, wouldn’t be opposed to this pairing. And if you’ve stalked Watson and Felton’s Instagram pages, you can tell they enjoy hanging out. In fact, they hung out recently and were comfortable enough to post about it, too, which is something they rarely do. And alone! Gasp! Are those sparks still there, perhaps?

The jury’s still out and there’s no concrete evidence that there’s currently anything between Watson and Felton, though the two obviously remain friends. Recently, however, the actress called herself “self-partnered” during an interview and when Felton was asked what he thought of that, he said it was “great” before also admitting that he, too, was single. Hmmmm.

Back to Rupert Grint. The actor will next be seen in the Apple TV+ thriller series from M. Night Shyamalan, Servant. The show premieres November 28.
