Gypsy Rose Blanchard was on The View this morning, just a week after her release from prison. The 32-year-old was there to share her story and promote her new Lifetime docuseries, The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard.
During her appearance, Gypsy Rose talked about how she wants to take advantage of her 6.6 million Instagram followers and become an advocate for other victims of Munchausen syndrome by proxy. She said that no one should have to resort to murdering their abuser like she did:
“I’m going to try to create some change and be a voice for the voiceless. If there’s someone out there watching right now, please listen to me, heed my words, that you are not alone in this situation. There are other ways out. I did it the wrong way.”
After Gypsy Rose said she did it “the wrong way”, Joy cut in: “No, no, no. Don’t say that.” As though Gypsy was her bestie and was fishing for a compliment: “Ugh, I look like sh** in this outfit!” “Aw, girl, don’t say that! You’re perfect!”
But Gypsy Rose wasn’t about to let 81-year-old Joy let her off the hook for murder. She replied, “I did! I did something wrong, and I paid my dues for it.” That’s when Joy realized her faux pas: “Oh. You mean that part. Oh yeah. Never mind.” As the audience laughed, Ana Navarro jokingly said, “Murder is wrong, Joy.” Gypsy Rose Yes-And-ed Ana’s bit, repeating “murder’s wrong”.

Earlier in the interview, Gypsy Rose was asked about how she felt about her ex, Nicholas Godejohn, spending life in prison after she got him to stab and kill her mother, Dee Dee. This was her answer:
I know we both probably have a lot of regrets. I know I have regrets. I can’t speak for him. So I really don’t know his side of things. All I know is, you know, I did my time, he’s doing his time. That’s the best that I can do at this point. For me, I have to focus on myself right now. I can’t look in the past and worry about him or anything else going on. I have to prioritize myself in this moment. I just got released from prison after eight-and-a-half years, and then I didn’t have a life before that. So I have a lot to process and go through right now.
Here’s more of Gypsy Rose on The View (never thought I’d write that sentence):
Gypsy Rose’s husband, teacher Ryan Anderson, was in the audience, and the ladies chatted with him around the 3:15 mark of the second clip. Apparently, Ryan was inspired to write to Gypsy Rose in prison after his friend told him she was going to reach out to Joe Exotic, the Tiger King. And yes, the year was 2020, what gave it away? Ryan emailed Gypsy Rose, but the friend “chickened out” and never wrote to the Tiger King. I mean, chances are she wouldn’t have ended up marrying Joe, but crazier things have happened!
