Livvy Dunne Would Like You to Stop Stalking Her at the Airport

Livvy Dunne is a former university gymnast who gained a ton of online fame through TikTok. It allowed her to become one of the highest paid college athletes and garner a sturdy post-retirement career in modelling and acting (she’s about to star in the reboot of Baywatch, a real thing that’s actually happening.) With it, unfortunately, has come a lot of creepy attention. Dunne fans, largely gross dudes, became unfamous for turning up to gymnastics events and harassing everyone in their way. It got to the point where Dunne’s university had to provide her with security.

This week, Dunne shared on TikTok how she “didn’t feel safe” after a recent trip home after a family holiday. She was met at her gate by a group of men, armed with cameras and photos they wanted her to sign. Not creepy at all. And it’s not the first time it’s happened to her. Dunne said:

“To the people still selling my flight information, stalking me at the airports, and buying refundable plane tickets to go through security to meet me at my gate: Can you please stop? I don’t wanna get anyone in trouble, but I want to share what it’s like from my perspective […] You guys aren’t fans, you’re professionals. You’re recording me on Meta glasses getting my autograph and you’re gonna sell it. Which is fine, but last night, I didn’t feel safe at the airport. If I wasn’t coming back from a family vacation and my sister didn’t stop these people from coming into the women’s bathroom, then I don’t know what I would have done. I do have security and I could fly private, but I guess my point is: Should a woman have to change her behaviour because a man can’t handle the word ‘no’? That’s my point.”

In the TikTok, she also showed footage of these men, many of whom tried to hide their faces, as Dunne and her sister confronted them over their stalking. This is unfortunately not an uncommon occurrence for celebrities, including those in the athletics space. Olympic runner Gabby Thomas spoke out over a group of men doing the same thing to her at an airport and getting aggressive when she tried to get away. These men, many of them autograph hunters, buy tickets to get through security and, allegedly, pay off airport workers to get the flight information of famous people. This is so gross and illegal and a massive invasion of what is meant to be a safe space.

And OF COURSE they’re wearing Meta Glasses. It’s the official pervert uniform after all.

Dunne is a more patient person than I am because I 100% would want to get these people in trouble. We need to bring back shame, particularly towards these creepy losers who think that the mere existence of a woman gives them permission to act like this.
