Eric Bauza, the voice artist behind countless Looney Tunes characters, including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig, has died aged 46. According to Variety, the cause of death was hypertensive cardiovascular disease and Bauza died at home on Sunday.
The actor's family announced the news via a statement on Instagram. "Eric Bauza, Emmy Award-winning voice actor and the modern voice of iconic Looney Tunes characters Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, along with dozens of other beloved cartoon characters, has passed away suddenly. More details to come."
Bauza was the modern-day Mel Blanc, a legend of voice acting who could seemingly do everything. He voiced Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd, Foghorn Leghorn, the Road Runner, Pepรฉ Le Pew, and Tweety.
He played all of those roles, and a few more, iin the recent film Coyote vs. Acme, as well as Space Jam: A New Legacy. Outside of the Looney Tunes world, Bauza could be heard in everything from The Super Mario Bros. Movie to Ben 10, Rick & Morty, Ultimate Spider-Man, The Powerpuff Girls, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Bob's Burgers. He was nominated for eight Emmys and won three.
Channing Dungey, the chairman of Warner Bros. Television Group and US Networks, said: "Eric Bauza was a unique voice talent who brought joy and laughter to millions around the world. He followed in the footsteps of giants like Mel Blanc. Eric said that carrying on the legendary legacy of the Looney Tunes was among the greatest honors of his life."
What a legend. What a legacy. He will be greatly missed.
