Celine Dion is back, baby! The queen of Montreal and everyone's favourite wacky Francophone aunt has been out of the spotlight for the past few years following a diagnosis of stiff person syndrome. Her fans worried that she'd been forced into retirement, never to hit those high notes again. But, two years on from her performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony, Celine is set to make her comeback with a big concert in France!
The news was teased across the city earlier this week with posters displaying the titles of song of Celine's most beloved songs. Now, according to La Presse, Dion will perform at the Paris La Défense Arena, which was just acquired by Live Nation. Dion will give two concerts each week in September and October there. It's a 40,000 seat venue. That seems small for her. She's going to sell that out in about 3 minutes.
While she hasn't made any official announcement yet, Celine did post some gorgeous images of herself in Paris over the years, with the caption, 'Je sais pas comment de dire...' That's the title of one of her songs. It translates to, 'I don't know how to tell you...'
What great news! Even if you don't like Celine's music, here's a woman who deserves her big moment after years of pain. If you've seen the recent documentary about her health struggles, I Am: Celine Dion, you'll know that she's been through the wringer.
And Celine is a true diva megastar. She may not have a ton of cool cache (although her recent fashion choices have certainly elevated her), but she is one of the biggest selling artists of all time. she has four of the highest-selling albums ever released. Falling Into You has sold more copies than Nevermind and Born in the U.S.A. Her Vegas residencies reinvented the entire concept of entertainment in Sin City. I don't think her clout has diminished one iota during her time away. These concerts will be record breaking levels of huge, I guarantee it.
