Britney Spears Has No Intention Of Reconciling With Dad Jamie After His Leg Amputation

Today TMZ reported that Britney Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, had his leg amputated a month ago. 71-year-old Jamie had a terrible infection that kept him in the hospital for weeks. After five failed surgeries to contain the infection, doctors felt they had no choice but to amputate.

TMZ has a weirdly (or, predictably) pro-Jamie take on the situation:

Jamie is not doing well. He’s had other ailments and has been downcast amid the torrent of criticism over his handling of the conservatorship … something he thinks is terribly unfair. Remember, Jamie is the one who moved from Louisiana to care for his daughter back in 2007. Lots of people who were involved back then say Jamie may have saved Britney’s life.

Wow. I am shocked that a reputable outfit like TMZ would take Jamie’s side! Haven’t they always handled Britney’s issues with tact and sensitivity? Haven’t they always taken the side of women? The side of the victim? HA.

TMZ adds that in an “interesting twist”, Britney has “softened towards her dad recently.” Their source claims Britney misses her father and “once even talked about sending him money to help him out.” Oh yeah, that’s what Jamie needs. More of Britney’s money. The insider says Jamie would love to reconcile with his daughter, and “harbors no ill will.” Aww, I’m glad he’s not angry with Britney for his abuse. So sweet.

Team Britney immediately got to work debunking TMZ’s claims. Multiple insiders exclusively told Page Six that the rumors are false: Britney does not want to make amends with Jamie. They add Britney “will never forgive him for the abuses and trauma he caused” and her “book and her posts about her father speak for themselves.”

In case you didn’t read Britney’s memoir, here’s a quick rundown of the abuses and trauma Jamie inflicted on his daughter:

-was an “extremely mean” drunk when Britney was a kid

-forced Britney to do an exploitative interview with Diane Sawyer when she was going through a deep depression

-arranged for a SWAT team to capture and hospitalize her, and used this opportunity to trap her in a conservatorship

-the first day of the conservatorship, told her, “I call the shots. I’m Britney Spears now.”

-forbade Britney from driving, seeing her friends, watching more than an hour of TV a day, or using her phone without parental controls

-set her bedtime and controlled when she went to the bathroom

-only gave her a $2000 a week allowance, but paid himself millions of dollars

-made her eat “chicken and canned vegetables” for two years straight, banning burgers, fries, and ice cream

-constantly told Britney she was difficult, lazy, and fat

-would not let her drink alcohol, despite the fact that he was the alcoholic and continued to drink heavily

-forced Britney to work ridiculously long hours to make him as much money as possible (if she didn’t follow his schedule, he’d threaten to take away her visitations with her sons)

-wouldn’t let her have any control over the songs she got to sing for her Las Vegas residency

-sent her to rehab for taking energy supplements and vitamins in 2014

-sent her to mental health facility and put her on lithium after she was “difficult” in a dance rehearsal in 2019

Britney did recently reunite with her mother, Lynne Spears. Over the weekend, she invited her mom and brother, Bryan, to celebrate her 42nd birthday. It’s a big step for Britney and 68-year-old Lynne, who have been estranged since she broke free of her conservatorship in 2021.

Obviously, Britney has major issues with her mother. In her memoir, she wrote that Lynne and the rest of the family followed along with whatever Jamie said, as though he was a “cult leader”. She also accused her mom of throwing out her old dolls and journals while she was locked up in the mental health facility (Lynne denies this).

I hope Britney can find some peace if she chooses to reconcile with her mother and siblings. And I really hope they don’t take advantage of her again and cause even more trauma. But, please, Brit. Stay far, far away from your father. I don’t care how sick he is, that man is a monster.
