A Brief History of Lana Del Rey and Her Alleged Gator Guy Husband

It was actually my day job boss who first informed me of Lana Del Rey’s new man earlier this month. We were sitting in the back room of the small boutique she owns and I run, waiting for customers. She often briefs me on the headlines she read that day as she knows I’m often writing these articles in her very establishment. Usually, the things that catch her attention are about Blake Lively or Justin Timberlake and I mostly ignore her, but this time I thought she was pranking me. Lana Del Rey is dating a who now? A Florida alligator swamp tour guide man?

Well, it wasn’t a prank. And now they are apparently married. This calls for an investigation.

According to The Cut, Del Rey and Jeremy Dufrene first met in 2019, when the former went on a swamp tour led by the latter. This was evidenced by a Facebook post. How very 2019. Then, earlier this year, she took another tour with her siblings and posted a picture of them on Instagram, tagging Dufrene in the caption and referring to him as “my guy.”

August of this year was when the rumors of their relationship first broke. During that time, they were spotted at the Leeds music festival in the U.K. together.

Then last week some random Instagram blog posted a screenshot from someone claiming to be Dufrene’s daughter and disparaging the relationship. Del Rey hopped in the comments to say “No,” and then “Also, that’s not his daughter on Twitter,” which led people to believe that maybe they’re not dating?

But, just kidding, she hard launched her beau when she brought him as her plus one to a wedding.

And then, on Thursday, they reportedly filed for a marriage license in Louisiana, and then got married on the bayou later that day.

Some fans are speculating that this is all a branding cosplay gone too far, as her upcoming album, scheduled for release in 2025, is reportedly a country vibe. I mean, it’s called Lasso. But, actually, I think Lana Del Rey covertly marrying a rough-around-the-edges swamp man is exactly on brand.
