How Does Mary Louise Parker Manage to Get More Attractive as She Ages?

Forty-six years old, people. I defy you to find a better looking 46-year-old celebrity than Mary Louise Parker.

That said: I don’t like the direction “Weeds” has taken in recent years. It used to be about a suburban mom who sold weed who just happened to be hot. Now, it’s just about how hot Parker is and in how many ways the showrunners can feature her in various stages of undress.

I’ll admit, though, that I nearly gave up on the show a few episodes in last season, as the misanthropy had gone into overkill. But once I settled into the notion that Nancy Botwin isn’t a likable character and probably never will be again, I began to appreciate it a little from a different perspective. That perspective being that Nancy is the real villain of this show now. She’s also one of the worst television mothers of all time.

Here’s the season six promo.

I'll deep her plot.

That doesn't really make any sense...

Huh, that's an interesting perspective to take on the show. Now that I think about it, I should finish Season 5 now that I'm looking at the show like that.

Fact! It dawned on me as well a season or two ago. She's pretty psychotic and hasn't done much for anyone other than herself (unless she can gain from it somehow) in years. This very much includes her children who she carts from danger to really serious danger to HOLYSHITWHEREISCHILDPROTECTIVESERVICES?!? Somehow she manages to trick the rest of the cast into thinking she's a better mom than Celia, who is just bitchy, misguided, and kind of dumb. At least Celia did a lot of her nasty bad parenting with the intent of improving her child's life. (yes, I know it was still abusive and she obviously didn't know best, but at least it was honest, as opposed to Nancy's feigned concern for the impact her actions have on her babies)

What about Lauren Graham? I know she's 43 but still, pretty hot for her age.

Posted by: PickleWolf at June 4, 2010 9:04 AM

Alright, so he's got a year to go 'til he's 46, but I submit that with the life he's lead, he should count anyway.Robert Freaking Downey, Jr. Nobody has a right to look that good when they've been through the shit that man has been through. I'm done. There is nothing more to say.

I gave up on this shit a while ago. But, yes, she is absolutely stunning. Bunkage, etc.

Posted by: TSF at June 4, 2010 9:30 AM

I gave up at the end of season three. But yes. She just gets better with age. Like Helen Mirren or Michelle Pfeiffer.

MLP looks freaking FANTASTIC in that trailer. I'm still a huge fan of the show. I was falling off during season 3 (the weakest by far) but in season 4 when you realize that Nancy is the bad guy, she is kind of a terrible person, she is a horrible mother, and the show ALSO knows she is a bad guy, it opened up for me again.

SPOILER WARNING for Season 5 finale:

That teaser is great. It looks like the Botwins go on the run after Shane's shocking murder of the Mexican uber-bitch. Can't wait for August. Nancy Botwin is the best anti-hero since Vic Mackey.

Can we still say fap?

@Optimus:

I sure as hell can.

I will not try. She's smokin'.

Posted by: Forbiddendonut at June 4, 2010 10:33 AM

I will agree with TylerDFC in that I am still a fan. The last season is where I figured it all out too, and can enjoy it again.

*spoilers!*

The finale was fantastic, and I can't wait to see where they go with the murder and all that. I'm also really amused by the whole "Celia is now the old Nancy" thing that's going on, and I can't wait to see her running her little drug business.

Who sings the song that plays during the preview? I really dig it. Bad pun intended.

Posted by: CCGirl at June 4, 2010 11:46 AM

Salma Hayek is one of the hottest women in the world and she is 44. A little short of the makr but I bet she will still be smokin' in two years.

Monica Bellucci is 46. But maybe not as famous.

I really liked the first two seasons of Weeds. It pretty much began to suck after that, the plot just got more and more ridiculous as time went on and they did horrible things to all of the characters.

Weeds started as a funny comedy with a nice concept and likable characters (I really loved Doug.) But midway through the writers turned it into a mix of Requiem for a Dream and MILF porn.

I still watch it though, because as Dustin said Mary Louise Parker is ridiculously hot. Sadly that's the only reason to watch Weeds nowadays. Well that and maybe the whole 'watching a train wreck' thing.

Take THAT, Billy Crudup!

Posted by: snapnhiss at June 4, 2010 12:29 PM

Everyone is aware that Mary Louise Parker does full frontal -- lovingly, lingeringly -- in Angels In America, right?

You're welcome.

How Does Mary Louise Parker Manage to Get More Attractive as She Ages?

She showed you her tits.

And she (her character)got sluttier.

And she (her character) does drugs.

So now you picture an ammoral, naked, pot-smoking milf who would definitely bang you for rent money.

As for a hotter mid-40s actress, I would go with Salma Hayek, Stacey Dash, Vanessa Marcil, Monica Belucci...

Posted by: L.O.V.E. at June 4, 2010 7:47 PM

Halle Barry, Demi Moore, Sandra Bullock, Courtney Cox...

Julie Bowen and Jen Aniston are future candidates

I haven't watched any of Weeds, but it sounds to me - based on this arc that has brought her character into villainy - that the whole show could in the end be a veiled anti-drug message. Nancy Reagan isn't one of the producers, is she?

Posted by: DarthCorleone at June 4, 2010 8:27 PM

I like the new story arcs but I hate the underlying message. Darth got it right when he said that it is a long psa against drugs. The idea that dealing weed leads to marrying into a Mexican drug cartel is fraking ridiculous.

I'm also really amused by the whole "Celia is now the old Nancy" thing that's going on, and I can't wait to see her running her little drug business.

You will sadly have a long wait. Elizabeth Perkins has left the show and Celia Hodes is no more. Maybe she got tired of the fact they didn't really know what to do with her anymore as well.

I miss when Doug Wilson was Councilman Doug... now he's so... weird.

Posted by: marcusarilius at June 5, 2010 12:17 PM

Holy shit. Boudoir...

Posted by: Uriah Creep at June 5, 2010 8:54 PM

I pretty much just watch Weeds for Andy. Who would have thought he would become the moral center of the show? I hope that guy gets other acting jobs.

Posted by: homeslice at June 6, 2010 1:16 PM

She has always been my girl crush, I am holding out for my 1st lesbian experience for her---ever since "Sugartime"....I've been waiting a long time.

The person who chooses Nancy’s lingerie should get a raise.
