Check Out the New 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Behind-the-Scenes Featurette Unveiled At Comic-Con

Word leaked earlier this week that Friday night’s ridiculously anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens San Diego Comic-Con panel wouldn’t end with the cast and crew revealing a third trailer. But apparently that didn’t mean director J.J. Abrams planned to send the 6,000 drooling fans in Hall H home without a few treats.

“We aren’t ready to show you scenes from the movie or a new trailer,” Abrams said after announcing that a new preview would debut sometime this fall, “But we wanted to bring something that was as unique and unexpected as we could.”

A four minute behind-the-scenes video offering first looks at Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia and interviews with Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Isaac, and Simon Pegg in an alien suit certainly qualifies as unexpected. And awesome.

If this footage isn’t enough to make you wish you were packed into a sweaty, cosplay-filled San Diego ballroom, everyone who attended tonight’s panel — which featured Abrams, Hamill, Fisher, Ridley, Boyega, Gleeson, Isaac, Gwendoline Christie and some guy named Harrison Ford — were given passes for a private Star Wars concert headlined by none other than Florida-Georgia Line John Williams and the San Diego Symphony. That’s pretty cool, I guess. If you’re into that sort of thing. /kicks rock

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in every theater known to man and beast on December 18th.
