What Do We Do Now?

We cry.

We rage.

We grieve.

We take a few days off.

Then we get back to work.

We stay involved.

We hold the newly elected government responsible.

We get involved in local politics.

But we don’t let politics overwhelm us.

We get back to our lives.

We raise our kids.

We make more kids.

Or we have sex without any intention of having kids.

We continue being proud of the campaign we ran, and the votes we cast.

We keep going high when they go low.

We don’t let this break us even if it feels like it’s going to at any moment.

Because as a maybe-not-so-great-man once probably didn’t say, “If you’re going through hell, keep going.”

We keep going.
