What a difference a decade makes. In 2002, when Men in Black II was released, I couldn’t have been more excited. (What? I was 15 at the time.) Not only did I love the original, but I knew all the dance moves to Will Smith’s theme song and felt a sense of personal success whenever made reference to their character names, J and K. My initials! And then: I saw Men in Black II, hated it, and honestly haven’t liked a single film of Will Smith’s since.
Maybe that’s why I couldn’t give two shits about Men in Black III, which comes out on May 25. Heck, I even forgot how soon its release day is, until I was trolling the ice cream message boards and noticed that Baskin-Robbins is coming out with MIB-themed flavors. “Pink Surprise Cake,” anyone?
It’s yet another lame promotional tie-in between a movie and fast food company, which got me thinking: what other sh*tty products and toys have chain “restaurants,” like Burger King and Taco Bell, given away over the years, not only for movies, but just in general?
