10 Best (and 5) Worst Sketches from "SNL" This Season

With all due respect to “Delaware Fellas,” “Almost Pizza,” “The Californians,” “Bronx Beat,” “Two Best Friends,” “Central Cougars,” “Seinfeld Apartment Murder,” and “All My Children Wrap Party” (as well as Weekend Update, which I’ve excluded ‘cause otherwise this list would be Stefon and Everyone Else), here are the 10 best sketches of SNL’s up-and-down 37th season.

#10. “André the Giant Chooses an Ice Cream Flavor”
Episode: Jason Segel (November 19, 2011)

Mercifully doesn’t overstay its welcome. SNL should do more of these non-sequitur sketches.

#9. “Underground Festival: Columbus Day Assblast”
Episode: Ben Stiller (October 8, 2011)

RIP Ass Dan.

#8. “The Real Housewives of Disney”
Episode: Lindsay Lohan (March 3, 2012)

Why SNL doesn’t do more sketches just featuring their talented group of female comedians is beyond me (we demand more Nasim!); “The Real Housewives of Disney” is a clever idea on a stale topic, and even Lindsay Lohan doesn’t screw things up.

#7. “Kings of Catchphrase Comedy Tour, Vol. 2”
Episode: Charlie Day (November 5, 2011)

Charlie “Jack-Knife” Day makes for a wonderful Dane Cook. He gets douchebag just right.

#6. “Arlene and Tim”
Episode: Melissa McCarthy (October 1, 2011)

Yes, it’s just McCarthy’s character from Bridesmaids, but we’re talking about (the original) Sookie here. Therefore, your argument is invalid.

#5. “Maya Angelou Prank Show
Episode: Maya Rudolph (February 18, 2012)

“Sister Maya, was this an act of malice?” “No, Brother West, it was an act of whimsy.” Line of the season?

#4. “What’s Up with That?”“
Episode: Maya Rudolph (February 18, 2012)

I just realized we’ll never see this again:

And that makes me sad, almost as sad as…

#3. “Someone Like You”
Episode: Emma Stone (November 12, 2011)

I HATE YOU COPYRIGHT ISSUES FOR FORCING ME TO EMBED THIS VIDEO FOR SOME WEIRD JAPANESE WEBSITE. Also, I see a GIF of Emma Stone crying and shoving ice cream into her mouth at least once a day. I never complain.

#2. “Downton Abbey on Spike”
Episode: C-Tates (February 4, 2012)

Even if you haven’t see Downton Abbey, like me, you can still appreciate the brilliance of lines like, “What’s Downton Abbey? Basically it’s about a bunch of honkies that live in a church. Or maybe it’s a museum. Either way, they don’t got wi-fi.”

#1. “Les Jeunes de Paris”
Episode: Zooey Deschanel (February 11, 2012)

This is the corgis of SNL sketches — it’s impossible not to smile when watching it.

And now the five worst:

#5. “The Manuel Ortiz Show”
Episode: Anna Faris (October 15, 2011)

#4. “Crab Blast 2012”
Episode: Zooey Deschanel (February 11, 2012)

#3. “Miss Drag World”
Episode: Eli Manning (May 5, 2012)

#2. “Delinquent Girl Teen Gang”
Episode: March 3, 2012

#1. “It’s Gilly”
Episode: Sofía Vergara (April 7, 2012)
