Rose McGowan has gone from actress to outspoken advocate in the last several years. Armed with her Imperator Furiosa haircut and a lot of harsh truths, I am as grateful for present-day McGowan as I am for Jawbreakers McGowan and that is saying something, truly.
In the wake of Trump’s comments on sexual assault (“which ones?” is a fair question at this point—let’s just go with all of ‘em), many women have gone public with their personal stories and reasons why women don’t always report this abuse. Including McGowan.

And people still wonder why women don’t come forward, or why Donald Trump’s accusers are “just coming forward now.” Allow me to offer you some possibilities:
- Because you know that phrase “strength in numbers?” Yeah. That.
- Because maybe they did and no one listened or they were silenced, like most of Cosby’s victims.
- Because of this bullshit.
- Because it’s none of your goddamn business why not, that’s why.
Thank you, Rose, for being a voice for those who don’t have one, be it from fear or by being stripped of it.
