In a new interview with The Sunday Times, Idris Elba absolutely smoked every man who’s downplayed or outright criticized the #MeToo movement, and he did it with one simple answer on how hard it is to be a man in a day and age when accusations are being taken somewhat to barely seriously instead of outright dismissed. Via Esquire:
“It’s only difficult if you’re a man with something to hide.”
WHOA DANG.
Thanks to celebrities like Matt Damon and Henry Cavill completely cocking it up when it came time to demonstrate basic human decency, Elba’s remarks started trending on Twitter where the reactions were an immediate 11 out of 10 Pam Pooveys.
But don’t take my word for it (because I’m a man who isn’t Idris Elba and shouldn’t be trusted). See for yourself:

If this text had been about pretty much any other famous dude save for maybe Tom Hanks or Keanu my first thought would’ve been “Oh god what did he say?” but it’s Idris Elba so I knew it wouldn’t be bad. pic.twitter.com/M3cod2sBct

This news makes me feel less dumb for wanting to order a coffee mug that said Idris Elba’s bath water that one time. https://t.co/t23AUy304O

I step away from Twitter for five fucking minutes and Idris Elba destroyed all men. Amazing.

Simple. Everytime I hear a man say #metoo makes their lives more difficult they are admitting to harassing women, liking it, and not wanting to stop or face any consequences. Good man yourself @idriselba https://t.co/8hqfvPtwNd

Also, this popped up in the Twitter results and it touched me in places I didn’t even know existed. If anyone knows where I can wire my life savings to make this happen, just go ahead and leave the account number in the comments. I’ll see it.
Jordan Peele better make that Gargoyles movie happen…. while Idris Elba is still young to play Goliath pic.twitter.com/1un0kVB2Bq
