The Daily Beast just published a report on sexual assault allegations against comedian and Silicon Valley star T.J. Miller. The allegations come from a single victim Miller met while attending George Washington University in the early 2000s, but extend over multiple incidents of non-consensual sexual violence (including punching).

“He just tried a lot of things without asking me, and at no point asked me if I was all right,” the woman told The Daily Beast. “He choke[d] me, and I kept staring at his face hoping he would see that I was afraid and [that he] would stop… I couldn’t say anything.”

Other friends who were aware of the incidents went on record with the outlet to corroborate the allegations, though the victim herself chose to remain anonymous. Miller and his wife issued a statement to the outlet denying the claims, stating that the victim “began again to circulate rumors online once [my and Kate’s] relationship became public. Sadly she is now using the current climate to bandwagon and launch these false accusations again. It is unfortunate that she is choosing this route as it undermines the important movement to make women feel safe coming forward about legitimate claims against real known predators.”

Apparently rumors of this incident have plagued Miller throughout his career. As The Daily Beast notes:

In the years since, Miller has attempted to address the lingering allegations by occasionally making light of them. He’s privately joked about committing violence against a woman in his past, according to three sources in the comedy world. Perhaps that is why some female performers and comedy professionals tell The Daily Beast that they have declined to work with Miller, citing a perceived history of abusive behavior.

Warning: The full story is graphic and painful. But so is everything else we’ve been reading the past few months.
