There are a lot of big, scary important uncertainties right now. Dustin’s been addressing those as news breaks. I’m here to focus on other stuff, like what exactly is going on in this video?

The internet is full of random stuff. Hell, that’s part of the allure of TikTok, an endless stream of random stuff. But this video is sublime in that, you can watch it over and over, uncovering new details, and still have no idea why it exists.
Here. Watch it again.

Did you notice the crab yet?
Watch more times.

As near as I can figure. A woman who has a pronounced predilection for toe rings steps on a…sock? Filled with…shaving cream? But punctured with holes? And it explodes with foam! But why? Is it to chase off the crab? Is this a known crab-scooting technique? What are its origins? Or is the crab incidental? And why is there a device to put on a sock? That seems like using a spoon to put butter on your butterknife. Am I alone here? Then, would you want presumed shaving cream on your foot in your sock with your toe rings?
I’m honestly asking. And I’m not alone. Here’s how Twitter reacted to this mystifying video.

But…”sock aid?”

No idea. Every time I watch it I feel like I don’t have any idea what it is more

Its a device that holds open sock to make it easier to put on. (At a guess we need sound on. The noise of foam squirting is the right frequency to scare any crab hiding in sock.)

I assure you it is NOT

We add Old Bay to our foam.
