Twitter Users Ponder Their Favourite Road Movies

For whatever reason, whenever considering my favourite genre or mini-genre of film, I’ve never really jumped to ‘road movie’ as an answer. Heist films? Sure. Films that take place over the course of one night? Oh yeah. Neo-noir? Hell yeah. Sublime meditations on love and the human condition that take place mostly over extended, naturalistic conversations? Damn right! They all belong on the shelf of favourites. But the road movie? For some reason, I’ve never placed it there. Which is stupid. Because it one hundred percent belongs there. I feel like I’ve let my inner film nerd down by not realising it until seeing this Twitter prompt from the Taste of Cinema account:

Then all the answers came flooding in, and I kicked myself for not thinking of it all these years. I mean, look at it!:

And that’s not even mentioning one of the best road movies of the nineties.
