All right, we all know the deal about Sarah Huckabee Sanders being asked to leave a Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, Virginia. But did you know that there were other Red Hen restaurants and they’re neither a franchise, nor in any way affiliated with each other? They just happen to have the same name. It’s a weirdly popular name for a restaurant, in fact. There’s a Red Hen in Connecticut, for instance, and if you go to their webpage right now, you get hit with this message:
There’s also a Red Hen restaurant in D.C. It has no affiliation to the one that Sarah Huckabee Sanders visited. However, you’d be hard-pressed to convince others of that, as the social media manager for the D.C. establishment has hilariously been attempting to do since Saturday.
Good morning! @PressSec went to the unaffiliated @RedHenLex last night, not to our DC-based restaurant.

Saying that their restaurant was unaffiliated wasn’t enough. People on Twitter demanded that the DC restaurant — which again, has nothing to do with the Virginia establishment — take a stand.
Your statement that you are unaffiliated w/the Lex is all fine and well, however, I have one question you didn't answer. Would you allow Press Sec Sarah Sanders, other Trump employees or Trump supporters to dine at your location? You didn't say you would, so please clarify.

But the D.C. Red Hen is prohibited from taking a stand based on politics.
Businesses in DC are prohibited from discriminating against people for political affiliation because we are a federal district. We have patrons from both sides of the aisle. https://t.co/IOmNmYqoj5 pic.twitter.com/xfkff7t4B0

So, that should be the end of that, right?
God no. Have you met people? Do you know how dumb people are? The poor social media manager has been running around in goddamn circles for the last two days. Let’s take a quick peek at the dumb with which she has had to deal.
You have the wrong restaurant. Separate companies separate businesses separate owners no affiliation. That one is in Virginia. Businesses in DC are prohibited from discriminating against people for political affiliation because we are a federal district.

Lexington VA is 3 hours away and our name is not copyrighted. There are restaurants of the same name all over the country.

A whole lot of people needed to have the term “unaffiliated” explained to them.

It’s not a franchise. That’s what unaffiliated means. pic.twitter.com/jVBArm8Kvp

The point of the word unaffiliated is that we're unaffiliated. @MerriamWebster some help please with the word of the day? pic.twitter.com/kPYGxWXe9X

@RedHenPress is a book publisher. Maybe they can give a dictionary. pic.twitter.com/Nj4FM0k7S0

Reading comprehension is not a skill that everyone has.
Well we don’t have mirrors in the dining room so you wouldn’t be able to see yourself eating anyway.

After tweeting the same messages to about 40 people, the social media person tried a different approach.
Why does Roger Federer use yours?

It’s not. You can see that there are separate twitter handles above. Just the same name. Just like you’re not Diane Keaton. pic.twitter.com/ucEBMDbJvv

By now, this guy speaks for all of us.
This entire thread is like an endless loop of the same questions being answered over and over. I cant believe whoever is responsible for PR at The Red Hen DC is not losing their shit right now at the sheer stupidity and lack of basic reading skills people have.

Oh look: I know this guy!

The social media person is now losing her head.

We won’t ask you to leave because this isn’t the same restaurant.
— The Red Hen (@RedHenDC) June 24, 2018
To be sure, they’re dumb on both sides of the political spectrum.
Well if you have no standards about not allowing heartless liars into your restaurant you should know there are consequences to that action.

This guy finally thinks he’s nailed Red Hen! “Here’s the proof!”
It’s almost like all of our logos are of the same animal we’re named after or something. pic.twitter.com/iFc33FQkGj

This, however, is my favorite response:
That's not us flamestomper. You should change your name to FlameFanner. pic.twitter.com/mIvqDAYS3Y
