It’s not like it’s an original observation by any means to say that 2007 was a great year in American cinema. Nevertheless, I couldn’t help but think this again when I noticed that Honest Trailers had put out a video for one of the best American films of the 21st century, No Country For Old Men. It’s not even an outstanding Honest Trailer or anything, it’s just that any slices of No Country consumed just leave you in awe:
What it made me think even more than ‘Damn, 2007!’ though, was—yet again!—‘Damn, I miss the Coen Brothers!’
Where are they?
What are they doing?
Why aren’t they working together anymore?
Come back to us, C-Bros! All is forgiven for Buster Scruggs! Make another film! Not for Netflix! Please!
Maybe another rewatch of the masterpiece that is Burn After Reading will summon them back. Might as well try.
[Publisher’s Note: Word is, the Coens have written and will direct a “very bloody” horror film as their next project.]
