Stanley Kubrick was one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. He was also a notorious perfectionist — once demanding 140 takes from Scatman Crothers and Dan Lloyd in The Shining. Dan Lloyd was five years old at the time.
Meanwhile, H. Jon Benjamin — of Archer and Bob’s Burgers fame — has maybe the greatest voice of all time. Luckily for Benjamin, he was only two years old at the time of Kubrick’s other masterpiece, 2001: A Space Odyssey — because I’m sure that if Kubrick had somehow known (Kubrick always knows) about this child barely out of the womb and his vocal destiny, he would’ve roped him in and one way or another coaxed that voice out before its time (because that voice was definitely still at least, like, five years away; there’s nothing better than imagining a seven year old H. Jon Benjamin walking around, talking like Sterling Archer).
