'Idiocracy' Co-Writer Is Real Sorry for Giving All Those Ideas to Donald Trump

To call what is going on in American politics right now the coming of Idiocracy has become so cliche as to basically rob the movie title of its meaning. It’s like “Scotch” tape — it’s a protected trademark, but it’s been so overused that Scotch tape has practically become a generic term for clear adhesive tape. “Idiocracy” has become a generic term for THE TIMES WE ARE A’ LIVIN’.

And maybe we don’t have Etan Cohen — the co-screenwriter of Idiocracy — entirely to blame, but he basically did create the Trump prototype in President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho.

Cohen is real sorry about that, guys.

I do imagine that, whenever interest briefly wanes, Donald Trump and his advisors sit around and watch Idiocracy to mine new ideas for his campaign. Don’t be surprised if he slips a few points in the polls in the coming weeks and he comes out with a new plan to replace the nation’s water supply with Gatorade.
