Cultural criticism is good! A nuanced, sensible dialogue about the ins and outs of culture is one of the best parts of this shi*y life. We get to celebrate, investigate, learn, critique, grow—it’s great stuff! ‘Fandom’, though? ‘Fandom’, on the other hand, can be a rotten, toxic mess, a shambling, entitled monster, insatiable and cancerous. Just one look at what happened to Kelly Marie Tran should be enough to remind people of that. And, if not that, then this little clip I just stumbled on, a mini-compilation of Star Wars stars recounting the abuse received from ‘fans’, just one tiny snippet of the broad assault of ‘fandom’ on common sense and decency, should do the trick:

There’s so much to criticise Star Wars for! Disney, even fuc*ing more so! Do it right, you idiots!
