This Poor Spelling Bee Contestant REALLY Thought He Knew How to Spell a Word

For the first time in 50 years, this year’s National Spelling Bee contest ended in a tie after Sriram Hathwar and Ansun Sujoe correctly spelled every word that the judges had on their list, including words like stichomythia, feuilleton, and hallenkirche, which I’m pretty sure are just made-up words.

The highlight of this year’s contest, however, may have been 15-year-old Jacob Williamson of Cape Coral, Florida, who was so very excited to get a word that he knew.

“I know it, I know it, I totally know it!” he exclaimed.

Only problem is: He didn’t know it.

Poor guy. On the bright side, Sriram Hathwar and Ansun Sujoe may have won the contest, but Jacob Williamson is going to get a lot more YouTube views.
