This Fake Emma Stone 'Spider-Gwen' Trailer Is So Good, It Hurts a Little

When we talk about Spider-Man— since we know Sony and Marvel are just going to keep churning out those movies till the sun explodes or until superhero movies stop making money, whichever comes first— we all have hopes and wishes for the franchise that don’t seem too unreasonable. Please don’t make us sit through that origin story again, is a pretty common request from fans. Similarly, if we never have to watch Uncle Ben die again, I’d be eternally thankful. A major wish a lot of us keep throwing out there— though it’s hard to tell if it will ever be granted— is to just let Peter Parker go entirely. Many of us have our hopeful sights set on getting a Miles Morales Spidey someday, but there’s another potential hero who seems primed to take over the mantle.

Spider-Gwen, which was launched in February of this year, takes place on an alternate Earth where Gwen Stacey was the one bitten by that radioactive spider.

It’s a hugely popular title, and since we know Sony has at least considered having a female-driven Spider-Man movie, this seems like an obvious choice. Well, over at Vulture Remix, they’ve spliced together a ton of Emma Stone footage, both from The Amazing Spider-Man and other movies of hers, for a fake trailer that’s so good, it may make you weepy over the fact that this isn’t a real movie. Yet. YET, right, Sony?

Needs more Spider-Ham, but other than that, it’s pretty perfect.
