I imagine that, for Korean women unfamiliar with American snack foods, eating all the sugar, oil, and processed chemicals must be akin to Survivor contestants eating exotic animal testicles. And if you think about it, our snack foods really are … strange. If rice, noodles, beans, and seafood were the staples of my diet, I’d imagine a Twizzler would taste really kind of gross to me (in fact, I personally think Twizzlers taste like Strawberry plastic, and despite growing up on processed and fast food, I can’t eat any of it anymore, except for sugary, delicious breakfast cereals).
Anyway, a guy put together this pretty great video in which he asked Korean women to offer opinions on American snack foods, and for the most part, they were not impressed. Their love for Rice Krispy snacks was fairly universal, but they disliked most everything else, especially Twizzlers and Warheads.
The video (at the bottom) is definitely worth watching, but it’s also 10 minutes long, so if you don’t have the time, here’s the best responses:
Goldfish
Pop Tarts
Lays Salt and Vinegar Potato Chips
Twizzlers
Cheez-Its
Warheads
