Something was brought to my attention this morning that has brightened my day immeasurably. It’s a trailer for a movie called Tammy and the T-Rex. A real movie. Made in 1994, by Stewart Raffill—the bloke who directed Mac and Me.

Once again the title of the film is Tammy and the T-Rex, and history says that this was a real production, not a Rick and Morty bit or Lionel Hutz hit. This is the synopsis for Tammy and the T-Rex, according to IMDB:

An evil scientist implants the brain of Michael, a murdered high school student, in an animatronic Tyrannosaurus. He escapes, wreaks vengeance on his high school tormentors and is reunited with his sweetheart Tammy. Together, the couple try to elude the mad scientist and the police and find a more appropriate vessel for Michael’s brain.

But enough of the preamble. Watch the trailer:

Isn’t that just the most wonderful cascade of completely mad imagery? It’s borderline transcendental. It’s got Paul Walker doing a Homer and eating a flower!

It’s got this mad doctor absolutely smashing the shit out of his chest to reverse the damage done by a lion!

It’s got…this!

Now, the movie was intentionally ridiculous. According to Wikipedia:

Stewart Raffill says he was approached by a man who owned theatres in South America who had an animatronic T Rex which was going to a park in Texas. “The eyes worked. The arms moved. The head moved. He had it for two weeks before it was going to be shipped to Texas and he came to me and said, “We can make a movie with it!” I said, “What’s the story?” and he said, “I don’t have a story, but we have to start filming within the month!” and so I wrote the story in a week.”

Raffill says all the locations were within 25 minutes of his house. He says there was a big fire during the shoot and some smoke can be seen in some shots.

Raffill says, “I was just trying to do a film for people that like wacky movies. In other words, you laugh at the experience that I was facing which is, what the hell are you meant to do with this material? I was sticking all this shit in it, just to make it work. Of course, when you only have a week to work on a script, it is a bit thin! I’m also the biggest plagiarist, I’m constantly asking the cast and crew if they have anything better that they can add.

Usually that would upset me, and I’d prefer something like this was made with a straight face. Like, oh I dunno, Tiptoes.

But to be honest, with the bountiful treasure trove of goodness that the Tammy and the T-Rex trailer provides, I’m not even mad that it’s intentionally bad. The impact remains undiminished. Just like Paul Walker’s taste in flowers.

Consider this my apology for that Davidson/Grande deepfake abomination earlier in the week.
