It’s not such a stretch of the imagination to hear of Russell Crowe singing ( or starring) in a music video; he’s been in a band for years. But the actor also directed this video for Australian singer Marcia Hines’ Remedy, and he seems to have taken the Robert Palmer Addicted to Love route, adding in a few scantily clad nurses — not that there’s anything wrong with that. What is a little odd about the whole thing are the lusty looks Crowe and Hines are shooting each other in the operating room (while Crowe operates on a patient), intercut with strategic shots that zoom in on the dancing nurses’ derrieres. Ever wonder what your surgeon is doing while you’re knocked out? Uh, yeah…check it:
Is hospital soft porn a thing?
Crowe Just directed his first feature film, The Water Diviner (the description sounds about as exciting as you think); I wonder if he’ll jazz that up with some fantasy sequences.
Here are a few other music videos you might not have realized were directed by actors:
1. Richard Ayoade (The Boxtrolls, The IT Crowd, The Double Directed Arctic Monkeys’ Fluorescent Adolescent and Crying Lightning:
Clowning around and a trippy ocean voyage? Yes, please.
2. Gary Oldman Directed Chutzpah’s Red Rover:
Shot with cell phones, and you can tell.
3. Johnny Depp Directed Babybird’s Unloveable:
And they say Morrissey’s a downer.
4. Drew Barrymore Directed Best Coast’s Crazy for You:
Angsty love story…just about what you’d expect.
Cindy Davis, (Twitter) doesn’t like hospitals.
