Rachael Leigh Cook is best-known for three things: the ’90s teen classic She’s All That, the underrated and outstanding comedy Josie and The Pussycats, and that commercial where she violently smashed an egg to warn impressionable youths about the dangers of heroin. You know the one.
Years later, Cook parodied the iconic “Any Questions” commercial on Robot Chicken, poking more fun at her performance than the drug problem in America.
But now, the face of one of the ’90s most famous anti-drug commercials has resurrected its imagery to explore how the War on Drugs is not only a failure but also a racist tool of oppression.
If you have any questions, we recommend (again) watching Ava DuVernay’s 13th for a world-changing exploration of how American politics and crime policies have targeted Black communities, and led to our mass-incarceration state.
