I know it’s impossible for a multi-billion dollar franchise to actually sell out, but X-Men: Days of Future Past sure seems to be trying. They’re cross-promoting with Carl’s Jr, the most terrible and misogynistic of all ad makers and guess what! These new X-Burger commercials are as terrible and misogynistic as you’d expect. The first ad features Mystique, who wants to eat a burger, but just can’t do it in her present lady form. No, she needs to “man up” in order to eat so much bacon. And in the next commercial, we see Quicksilver eating a burger with no problem.

Carl’s Jr, if there’s anything you think stupid “douche canoe” Quicksilver can do that Mystique isn’t “man” enough for, than you deserve a big blue roundhouse kick to your bacon-stuffed face.

And then there’s this behind the scenes masterpiece, in which Evan Peters says he really likes playing Quicksilver cause of the cool shiny jackets and stuff.

Vivian Kane was eating bacon while writing this. She’s like a modern-day Gloria Steinem.
