Lena Headey Might Make 'Pride and Prejudice And Zombies' A Must-See Guilty Pleasure

On a lot of levels the upcoming Pride and Prejudice and Zombies looks like it’ll be a next-level shit show.

For one, it’s based on the Seth Grahame-Smith novel that was funnier in idea than execution. Secondly, Grahame-Smith’s ties to movies have thus far included such embarrassing atrocities as Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows. Then there’s the troubled production history that’s left a slew of screenwriters (including Mike White and Marti Noxon), directors (including David O. Russell and Craig Gillespie) and would-be leading ladies (including Natalie Portman, Emma Stone and Lily Collins) in its wake. Now its script it credited to its director Burr Steers, whose broke through in 2002 with the heralded indie Igby Goes Down, then helmed the lackluster 17 Again and Charlie St. Cloud.

Yet for all this, I have some faint hope Pride and Prejudice and Zombies might be fun. After all it has Cinderella’s radiant ingenue Lily James as a warrior Lizzie Bennet and Doctor Who’s Matt Smith as Mr. Darcy—wait, what? SERIOUSLY!— Mr. Collins. But perhaps most thrilling Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey will play the snooty and bullying Lady Catherine de Bourgh. And if you think her attacks on Lizzie stay in the realm of verbal barbs, you’ll want to check out this bonkers clip.

Long live Lady Headey!
