So have you guys been following the Bill O’Reilly scandal? Because I have not. Basically I try to follow Bill O’Reilly as little as possible at all times. But from what I’ve learned:
— Bill O’Reilly talks a lot about how awesome he is. Including that time he reported from the middle of the Falklands War.
— Oh wait, sorry, he didn’t mean he covered the Falklands War. He meant he covered a super dangerous period in South America. AKA an admittedly violent, but not deadly, protest in Buenos Aires.
— But that still totally counts because “when he was working for CBS News he reported on a violent protest in Buenos Aires around the time of the Falklands war, and that constitutes a ‘combat situation’ in a ‘war zone.’”
— Everything about his explanation makes me laugh.
That’s like a guy bragging about cleaning up at the tables in Vegas when he really he means he won on a scratcher just outside of Des Moines. THAT IS NOT THE SAME THING.
But O’Reilly’s unlikely yet still loyal friend Jon Stewart stepped up last night to defend Papa Bear. Stewart wisely points out “This isn’t a big deal, everyone knows O’Reilly is always full of shit.”
That might not be the defense you’d want a friend to give on your behalf, but it might still be the best defense O’Reilly’s going to get.
