It Turns Out 'The Leftovers' Has Been Severely Underusing Margaret Qualley

I’m a big fan of Margaret Qualley, and of her performance on The Leftovers. But when playing Jill, the extent of her physicality is pretty much leaning, sighing, and eye-rolling.

As it turns out, that is a HUGE waste of her talents. Qualley (who I probably should have known is Andie MacDowell’s daughter) trained as a ballerina until she was 17, and is now starring in a Spike Jonze music video/perfume ad that lets her go absolutely berserk. The video is reminiscent of Jonze’s Walken-filled “Weapon of Choice” music video, mixed with the spastic nuttiness of Maddie Ziegler’s “Chandelier” choreography.

Of course, to make her face and body look like they’re just flailing about takes an insane amount of control. Hence, that intense ballet training. Can The Leftovers incorporate some kind of demonic possession plot line next season? These skills are just going to waste as is.

Side note: do we think anyone’s told Marvel about her yet?

H/T Oohlo.
